I toured several northeastern states in early October, primarily to visit with family and friends, but I did reserve some time to photograph scenes filled with fall color. Stops included New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.
Fall colors were particularly vibrant the further north I traveled. Autumn is a favorite time for lots of photographers to get out in the fresh air and take advantage of not only the colors, but the lower light in the sky as well.
Upstate New York and southern Vermont were particularly photogenic. I took my time meandering along country roads until I saw something that caught my eye. Prentiss Pond in Dorset, Vermont was one of those sites. It’s a small pond with lily pads and the banks are lined by trees with brightly colored leaves at this time of year.
